Signs and Symptoms of Melanoma
A useful tool to identify a mole that may be cancerous is using the acronym "ABCD."
A stands for Asymmetry. When a mole appears to have different shapes or sizes on each half of a mole.
B stands or Border. This is when the outer border of the mole is ragged or uneven and pigment may even expand beyond the edges.
C is for Color. Irregular or uneven colors are indicators as well as several shades of black, brown, tan with possible areas of white, pink, blue, red or gray.
D represents Diameter. Growth in the diameter can be an indication of melanoma.
